10 Rupees note signed by B Rama Rau was Independent India’s first designed note. Since India not became republic till 1950, it was decided to keep King George VI portrait. In 1950, the King portrait was replaced by India National Emblem.
B Rama Rau was Free India first appointed Governor of Reserve Bank Of India. So looking at his tenure from 1949-1957, we can determine the age of the note. The note is larger as compare to circulation notes now.
