The new coin is having a maximum diameter of 23.43 from point to point and weighs 8.75 gram and edge thickness of 2.8mm. The coin will be 12 sided with rounded edges and corners.

It is dual coloured coin which has been achieved by use of Nickel Brass on outer side and Nickel Plated Solid Alloy in inner side.

To Commemorate the last round pound, Royal Mint has issued the commemorative coin, which is more superior in quality than other coins which are inc circulation.

Keeping Silver Shining

Silver in a purest form is a reactive metal and so soft in nature that mostly everything will bend if made out of pure silver. Over the period of time metallurgy has evolved a way to counter this issue, they add copper.

Adding Copper to silver not only makes it hard but also make its wearable and less reactive. But copper is also reactive, but less reactive than silver.

Even kept in open air at room temperature, over the period of time, pure silver (sterling silver) or silver mixed with copper start appearing black or yellow as it slowly react with moisture in the air, oxygen etc.

In some way its a good sign, which means that metal in your hand is pure. So to keep your silver in original condition, it is important to keep it away from air.

That’s why most of the mint made coins come in a airtight pack. So if you have silver bullion or any other coin, store them in an airtight capsule. Don’t leave your coin in open for a while.

Why Denver Mint Morgan Dollar is rare than that of other mint.

Morgan Dollar was USA first standard silver coin. It was minted from 1878 to 1904 and then again in 1921. The coin was named after its designer George T Morgan. The observe depicts Liberty portrait, while reverse depicted eagle with open wings. Due to shortage of silver, the mint ceased minting coin in 1904.

It was stuck at all the old mint plus Denver Mint, but since it was replaced by Peace Dollar replaced Morgan later that year, limited number of coins were minted at Denver Mint and they can be easy recognisable as “D” mint mark above Dollar in Reverse.
